New GivePanel Feature: In-Memory Facebook Fundraisers
Over recent years, we have seen an increase in fundraisers set up in someone’s memory. This acts as a tribute to them. Simultaneously, it helps others affected by raising funds for charitable causes.
Our 2020 Facebook Fundraising Benchmarks Report showed major growth. Specifically, average amounts raised increased for all activities between 2019 and 2020. However, in-memory and tribute fundraising saw the biggest jump. The mean average increased by nearly $84, rising from 400 USD in 2019 to 735 USD in 2020.
Furthermore, in-memory and tribute fundraisers raised the highest mean average and median monetary value when combining data from all charities in 2019 and 2020.

In-memory/tribute fundraising is incredibly powerful on Facebook. This is because people are already connected to friends and family there. If a charity does not activate Facebook Giving Tools, they may miss out on this income. People cannot set up a fundraiser on Facebook if the charity is not present.
To help non-profits take a Facebook-first approach, we are excited to announce a new feature. We are developing a brand new In-Memory feature within the GivePanel app. This will be the first time people can easily set up dedicated In-Memory fundraisers on Facebook.
✨ Key Features of GivePanel In-Memory
The GivePanel In-Memory feature uses the same reliable creation process as our Custom Facebook Fundraisers.
Key features include:
- Customisable Fundraisers: Supporters receive fully customisable Facebook fundraisers.
- Flexible Titling: Options let users title pages as “In Memory of,” “In Tribute of,” or “In Honour of” based on their preference.
- Extended Duration: Fundraisers can set an end date for up to $\mathbf{3}$ years.
- Creation Link: Non-profits get an In-Memory Facebook Fundraiser Creation Link. They can use this on their website, email, and social media campaigns.
- Book of Remembrance: A Book of Remembrance function lets fundraisers capture messages to the loved ones of the deceased. This helps commemorate their life.
- Event Reporting: Dedicated In-Memory event reporting is available within GivePanel.
