2024 has been a landmark year for GivePanel, as we've focused on rolling out powerful new features to help our customers enhance their fundraising efforts. With a particular focus on email communication, we've introduced tools designed to improve personalization, streamline campaign management, and give you more flexibility in how you connect with your supporters. Our goal is simple: to make your communications more effective, meaningful, and impactful on the channels your supporters already love.

Throughout the year, we've launched 7 exciting updates to the GivePanel email tool. In this blog, we'll walk you through each one and explain how they can help elevate your campaigns.

But first, why do we love email?

In 2023 we released our segmented email journeys which were a hit with nonprofits and a year later, we’re still focusing on email as a key channel and way of engaging with supporters.

Email remains a cornerstone of nonprofit fundraising for good reason. It’s universal—most of your supporters already rely on it daily—and offers an unmatched combination of reach, accessibility, and impact. Whether you’re engaging thousands of participants or just a few, email scales effortlessly, allowing you to send tailored messages that motivate and inspire.

What’s more, email has proven itself time and again as a driver of action, boasting an impressive return on investment and attention-grabbing open rates for welcome messages. With its ability to deliver personalized, timely communication directly to your supporters, email continues to be a trusted and effective channel for making meaningful connections.

Our 2024 email tool updates

It’s been a busy year! In 2024, we rolled out 7 exciting updates to the GivePanel email tool, all aimed at making your campaigns more impactful and your supporter communications easier than ever. Let’s take a closer look.

1. Email Conditions & Triggers

Newest to the party and one of our most requested features, Email Conditions & Triggers is here to transform how you engage with your supporters. This powerful addition lets you send highly targeted and relevant emails to specific supporter segments at exactly the right time.

Here’s what we mean by Conditions and Triggers:

  • Conditions: These are the rules you set to determine who receives an email. For example, you can send an email only to fundraisers using JustGiving or to those who have raised a specific amount.
  • Triggers: These determine when an email is sent within your journey. For example, you can schedule emails to be sent a certain number of days after someone registers or reaches a fundraising milestone.

Whether you want to recognize fundraisers hitting key milestones, encourage those who haven’t yet reached their targets, or tailor content based on the fundraising platform they’re using (like JustGiving or GoFundMe), this feature puts you in control. You can even set conditions based on claim status, ensuring that every email delivers the right message to the right person.

The best part? You’re not limited to just one condition. Combine multiple triggers to craft unique, personalized email journeys that resonate with your audience. By ensuring supporters feel seen and valued, you’ll boost engagement, inspire action, and drive an even stronger ROI for your campaigns.

From welcome messages to milestone celebrations, Email Conditions & Triggers gives you the tools to create meaningful, impactful connections with your supporters.

2. Duplicate Campaigns and Email Journeys

Reusing successful campaigns just got a major upgrade! Our new duplicate feature allows you to replicate entire campaigns, complete with their email journeys, in just a few clicks. Whether you’re looking to recreate a Facebook Challenge that exceeded expectations or launch a similar campaign across multiple platforms, this feature saves you time while maintaining consistency.

Now, everything from messaging to workflows is carried over, giving you a ready-made foundation to hit the ground running. This is especially useful for multichannel campaigns like Facebook and Instagram Challenges, where consistent messaging across platforms is crucial for engaging participants and driving results.

So whether you’re scaling successful initiatives or experimenting with new ones, the ability to duplicate campaigns ensures your nonprofit can adapt quickly, maximize impact, and keep up with the fast-paced world of fundraising.

3. Email Journey Ordering

It’s a simple update but one that will make keeping track of your email journeys a lot easier. We’ve updated the Editor and Reporting screens so your emails are now automatically ordered by their scheduled send dates. This makes it easier to manage and ensure your emails are going out in the right sequence.

4. Branded vs. Personal Email Options

GivePanel now offers two distinct email styles, giving you the flexibility to suit every tone and purpose. Choose from a friendly, informal touch with Personal emails, or a sleek, professional design with Corporate emails to engage your supporters most effectively.

Personal emails are simple, text-based messages designed to feel like they’re coming directly from a friend. With no logos, buttons, or banners, these emails prioritize authenticity and are perfect for heartfelt messages or updates. You can include merge tags for personalization, use emojis to add a playful touch, and upload images directly into the body of the email to make your message visually engaging.

On the other hand, Corporate emails are all about showcasing your nonprofit’s brand. These emails come with full branding options, allowing you to customize elements like logo placement, link colors, and call-to-action buttons. You can even add banners tailored to specific email journeys, making them ideal for official announcements, campaign launches, or detailed updates.

You can also set your nonprofit’s global branding preferences in your account settings, ensuring your Corporate emails consistently reflect your organization’s identity across all campaigns. These versatile options allow you to connect with supporters in a way that perfectly aligns with your message and mission.

5. Performance Badges for Email Campaigns

In 2024, we introduced a new feature to help you track email performance at a glance. Now, you’ll see “Above Average” and “Below Average” badges on your email campaigns, based on their interaction rate compared to your nonprofit’s average. This visual indicator makes it easier to identify your top-performing emails and areas for improvement.

6. Enhanced Email Stats

Email stats just got an upgrade! You can now view detailed performance metrics, including emails sent, delivered, opened, and clicked, all in one easy-to-navigate panel. The stats are broken down into absolute numbers and percentages, making it easier to understand how your emails are performing relative to other campaigns.

7. Improved Text Editor & Email Journey Navigation

And finally, we’ve given our text editor a facelift! You now have more formatting options to customize your emails with ease. Whether it’s adding bold text, bullet points, or images, you have more control over how your emails look. Plus, the revamped email journey interface allows for smoother navigation, with the “Add New Email” button always visible for easy access.

These 7 updates to the GivePanel email tool in 2024 are all about giving you more control, flexibility, and insights into your email campaigns. Whether you’re looking to segment your audience better, personalize your emails, or track performance more effectively, these features are designed to help you maximize your impact with little effort. And the best part is that they are all live and waiting for you in the GivePanel app!
